Grandmaster Kim
Grandmaster Han Woong Kim was born in Seoul, Korea and immigrated to the United States in 1988. He studied Hapkido under his father, Great Grandmaster Chong Sung Kim—founder of the Jang Mu Won Hapkido Association established in 1960.
At a young age, Grandmaster Kim made the decision to dedicate his life to the practice of Hapkido and to assist his father in building and strengthening the Jang Mu Won Association. Through his commitment, he became the only individual to have completed and mastered the entirety of Jang Mu Won Hapkido’s curricula. Grandmaster Kim further expanded his knowledge in martial arts training by devoting several years to earning a Master of Science degree in Oriental Medicine from Dongguk University in 2001.
As co-founder of Jang Mu Won International, Grandmaster Han Woong Kim has pioneered a variety of programs and initiatives (i.e. Home Study Program, External Self Defense Workshops, etc.) that have expanded access to martial arts worldwide, empowering individuals with self defense training and valuable life skills.
Several major martial arts publications such as Black Belt Magazine, MASTERS Magazine, and TaeKwonDo Times have frequently featured Grandmaster Kim after taking notice of his influence on the international martial arts scene.
Grandmaster Kim currently operates the Alhambra Headquarters dojang/studio as well as the South Pasadena dojang/studio.
Grandmaster Kim will continue well into the future to make significant contributions to the global martial arts community through his passion for and commitment towards the Jang Mu Won Hapkido Association.
